I’m closing in on age 60 with some wear and tear on my body. Amateur mountain and cyclocross bike rider/racer. Broke my ankle (3 places) and dislocated right shoulder in a crash last year. Chris Garcia started working with me as soon as Orthopedic M.D. gave clearance – Chris was very deliberate about this – October, 2015. Chris REALLY knows his stuff. He set expectations properly by telling me recovery would take a year, maybe more, and he lead me through a very specific progression of stretching, mobility, strengthening, and later, conditioning exercises for ankle, leg, and shoulder. Chris also reworked my running mechanics as the surgery and new ankle hardware changed things. He has a very keen eye for body mechanics. Chris is an expert at making adjustments and demonstrating alternative activities to accomplish the desired goal based on what was happening with my body at the time – and my limitations (previous injuries and rotator cuff/labrum damage, fractured rib, torn hamstring, Achilles tightness during my recovery – bike riding has its risks). Chris is high energy, extremely positive and supportive, answers all questions, and will push you when the time comes. He clearly demonstrates everything he asks of you, and again, is expert at making adjustments. Thanks to Chris, I am endurance mountain biking again and raced cyclocross last weekend (see photos) – which is a very good test of high intensity riding and running over a sketchy course with obstacles. Exactly one year later – just as Chris said it would be! I will continue to see Chris for help with my overall conditioning and when I have more specific needs to strengthen or increase flexibility, to overcome a limitation, or recover from a future injury. If you are serious about recovering from surgery or an injury, or just want to get into better shape the right way, and are willing to work hard to achieve best results, Chris is your guy!
