YOUTH INJURY

Discover How Injured Youth Athletes Can Get Out of Pain And Back To Doing What They Love – Without The Fear Of It Coming Back

Get Your Free Youth Injury Guide
If your child recently picked up an Injury, or if they’ve been suffering with an injury for a while – it can be very tempting to pass it off as “nothing serious” and simply “put up with it” carrying on as best they can.
Or, it can be very easy to get disheartened and end up feeling “stuck”, wondering if they’ll ever be able to get back to playing sport or stay active like they used to…
If that’s happening to you, you’re not alone: we hear this type of thing all the time. In fact, youth injuries are one of THE most common problems that we see at our Physical Therapy clinic in Chula Vista.
We’ve worked with youth athletes at all levels and most sports so we’ve just about seen every type of youth injury there is – and know how to help kids recover from them.
And when it comes to youth injuries, everybody we see wants to know:

It’s Been Weeks or Months Now – So Why is My Child STILL Suffering With An Injury That’s Stopping Them From Being Active And Playing Their Favorite Sport?”

Most people think that when their child gets an injury it’ll get better with a few days rest, and that they’ll be able to return to their sport or exercise again, quickly. But then when their child goes back to exercise again they’re still restricted – sometimes it’s even worse than it was when it first came on. Often when they rest there is little if any pain – but as soon as they start up again, it comes back and no matter how much rest they give it – it doesn’t seem to be improving.

Does That Sound Like Your Child?

Another scenario we see all the time in our Physical Therapy clinic is when parents go to their child’s Doctor, and the Doctor tells them to “take a break,” “rest,” “wear a brace,” and “see how it goes.” But this is rarely the best advice, and often 4 to 6 weeks later, they end up going back to the doctor again because the child’s injury hasn’t got any better. Worse, they’re often given MORE rest, and maybe even anti-inflammatory pills.

Has This Type Of Thing Happened To Your Child?

The problem is that when it comes to youth injuries – pulled hamstrings, ankle sprains, shin splints, etc., – complete rest is rarely the best advice.
So maybe you are confused and frustrated because you’ve been told different things, by different people. Maybe you think your child has to rest because you’ve been told walking, running or working out makes their injury worse, or that they should be doing ‘this exercise’ and ‘that exercise’ to make it better.
Youth injuries can be very confusing because more often than not, where the pain is coming from, isn’t actually the area that needs to be fixed and worked on and if your child rests for too long – other parts of the body become just as, if not more problematic!
It’s very confusing to know exactly what to do. And because of this confusion – this often leads parents to procrastinate and put off making a decision about what to do to help fix their child’s injury. Worse, many parents just end up accepting it as “part of life” – as if it’s normal, as if it “has” to be that way.

Is This How You Feel Too?

If You’re Currently Frustrated That Your Child Is Living With An Injury, Here’s 7 More Reasons Why It Could Be Lasting Longer Than It Should:

1. You thought the pain would go away on its own—but it didn’t
2. You went to the child’s doctor, who told them to rest, wear a brace, and take pain relievers, but the pills did nothing to help…all they did was ‘mask’ the pain – and as soon as they wore off, your child was left in pain again
3. A family member, or friend, told you that every kid gets pain and kids are prone to injury as they get older, so you just accepted it
4. You sought out help from other healthcare professionals or physical therapists in the past, but nothing they said or did seemed to help
5. You’ve had your child try using braces or exercises you learned on Google or YouTube but they’ve done nothing to help make the pain any better
6. You thought it would be a good idea for your child to rest because they were in a lot of pain, but it still irritates them daily
7. You decided to get your child a “massage,” chiropractic, or acupuncture hoping that would fix the pain, but all they did was feel nice and relaxing, and didn’t do anything to fix their injury long-term…
If any of these have happened to your child, we would love to invite you to book a one-on-one call with one of our top-rate specialists so we can find out what can be done to help them. The fact that you’ve tried any or all of these things already, like many people we see, is actually a GOOD THING! When you know what doesn’t work, you are closer to finding the thing that does!
Click the button below to schedule a free telephone consultation if you would like to get some solid advice given to you over the phone. The phone call is complimentary and there is no obligation to book any appointments with us after! Our goal is to help you make the right decision for your child about what to do next for the best.

“What Can I Do To Get Rid Of MY Child’s Pain Quickly?”…

Well, Here Are Four Things You Can Do:

1. First off, you need to make a decision about getting your child help. So many parents procrastinate for so long, thinking that child’s pain will “just go away with time,” but then 6 to 8 months down the line they’re still putting up with it, and nothing’s changed…or it gets worse.
2. Next, have your child do the RIGHT exercises! One of the best things to help your child recovery quickly and safely from an injury is to do the right series of progressed exercises—the right exercises given to you by a physical therapist will help reduce your child’s pain and allow them to move freely again, AND make sure that the problems don’t come back any time soon.
3. Avoid too much rest! While rest is an important part of the recovery process, too much rest won’t do anything to help your child recover quick. Many people believe that recovery means total rest from exercise. But in order for an injury to recover, blood flow is needed which rest prevents. It would really help if your child was given appropriate recovery and strengthening exercises to heal their injury, alongside hands-on treatment, to get them active and healthy again as quickly as possible.
4. Get real, “hands-on” physical therapy! Physical therapy, especially manual physical therapy, is proven to help kids with injuries. In fact, at Sports Performance Physical Therapy, it’s one of our specialties! If your child’s pain is stopping them from playing sports and staying active, and gets in the way of spending quality time with family and friends – physical therapy can help get your child back to living the life they deserve as quickly as possible!

“How Can Choosing to See a Physical Therapist at Sports Performance Physical Therapy Help Your Child Get Rid of Their Injury For Good?”

Here are just a few things our physical therapy team can do for you and your child:

We can quickly take away the pain and stiffness—often in a couple of sessions
We can help you and your child find out what’s really going on, and get to the root cause of their pain once and for all
We will ensure that your child’s problem is “corrected” and “healed” properly—and we will provide your child with the perfect set of exercises that will speed up their recovery
We can help you put an end to taking all those pain relievers, which are obviously not very good for your child’s long-term health
We can help your child avoid dangerous surgery
We can help you stop making repeated visits to your child’s doctor…where you’ll be told to “rest” again
We can help your child get back to enjoying quality time with family and friends that injury or pain has taken from them
We can help your child get through the day without having to rely on wearing a brace to help ease the pain
We can help your child get back to working out or doing the things they love
Basically… the Physical Therapy team at Sports Performance Physical Therapy can help your child get back to living life free from daily, annoying and frustrating sports injuries, and return to the exercise they love!
