In light of the recent COVID-19 or Coronavirus Pandemic, we as a human race are currently in uncharted waters with this global event. There’s a great amount of uncertainty particularly with how quickly things have progressed but there are 4 things that we should all consider during this time of need:
1. Treat everyone with kindness and respect.
2. Be mindful and have empathy.
3. Stay educated with credible and factual information.
4. Focus on what you can control.
We all interpret and treat uncertainty differently but uncertainty isn’t always a bad thing. Uncertainty is required for us as individuals to grow which allows us as a group to adapt. Uncertainty is always scary but it shouldn’t stop you from treating everyone with that same kindness that you’d want to be treated with.
The world has enough negativity, be the spark to spread a positive light.
Always remember that each and every one of us are all going through different matters so it’s CRUCIAL to be respectful of others’ opinions and wishes. Remember there’s always multiple viewpoints and strategies to find solutions. If you don’t quite understand, try putting yourself in someone else’s shoes. Keep an open mind and be empathetic for what others are going through.
Let’s continue to collaborate and work as a team!
There are countless researchers, health care providers, first responders, and grocery workers that are working double time to support our communities. The best way to do your part to combat this is to educate yourself. Provided are links to resources from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and local resources for San Diego County. Just like we do with injury, let’s focus on prevention so that we don’t have to be reactive with our solutions. Wash your hands, don’t touch your face with unwashed hands, cover your mouth with your elbow when sneezing or coughing, and disinfect objects you’re frequently coming in contact with such as your phone, door handles, light switches, and even your radio knobs in your car!
By doing these things and working together, we can all help keep our families and community members healthy.
Lastly with the concerns of coronavirus occupying all of our minds, it’s important to continue prioritizing and addressing the day-to-day. Let’s focus on factors that we CAN control such as your physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
